This spin-off from Doctor Who is well worth a look

I have watched all the episodes of the first series of Torchwood on BBC2 (they had previously been on BBC3). This is the “adult” spin-off from Doctor Who starring the Captain Jack Harkness character.

Overall it is well worth a look. Much more bawdy and harsh than the more kid friendly Doctor with decent meaty scripts. The only real drawback is that they clearly don’t have a huge budget and they have set it in Wales which means the accents do start to grate after a while. Makes sense tho to set it in the place you are actually filming in.

The plotlines started to get a bit repetitive towards the end but some of the edgier moments keep you interested. Should be a ne series coming along in the next few months

  1. I have to ask what problem it is that people have with the Welsh accent. It is beautiful and musical to listen to and inifinitely preferable to the grating London (or heaven forbid..Liverpudlian) tones we are usually subjected to.

Torchwood has not been without its faults during this season, however, it is the first and I have hopes for much improvement in the next one.
