I bought a shock case for my son’s ds lite. I was very disappointed by the quality of the plastic and also found that the casing did not fit that well together. It has taken me a very long time to fit it all back together. The instructions I looked at on You Tube (NOT the official youtube shock instructions) were straight forward. However I spent some considerable time thinking that the casing not fitting together properly was due to wires or something else getting in the way. I would not recommend Shock DS casing on based on my experience. Next time, I will source official DS lite casing.

with the directional one, does anyone know if a jumper still needs to be used to make the ide drive bootable when using the converter and plugging to a sata drive on the motherboard?

Since this card bears no bios chip, one cannot boot on a drive connected to it. Too bad, almost nobody (especially not any seller) says that most of these cards lack this vital feature.
And Mick also missed one point: the external Sata port cannot be used if both internal ones are populated.

People i have problem with vrfm8. At first it was working fine, but now when i insert it in my cigarette lighter socket it is blinking some strange numbers instead of frequency, and not reacting on any buttons. Can anybody help me?

if you hear a high frecuency noise and you give a little knock in the box and the sound change it could be 2 things:

1.- if the inverter comer with a ferrite transformer it could have a loosen core. put some high temp car joint maker (red silicone) between the core and windings.
2.- some bad solder points… if you have some skills in solder check all solders and resold the suspicius ones. (broken solder points)

I bought this product in libya but after 3 month there is noice come out from the inverter it is strange and it does not stop.

This converter can be called SATA to IDE converter, because IDE to SATA will not work using this device. That’s my experience since I am using one.

@wh – Sorry, no performance tests done. Was “fast enough” for me.

@steve – Yes you need both. The floppy power gives juice to the adapter and the harddisk needs its own supply.

can you tell please tell me do you have to have both
power supplys eg floppy power supply goes to adpter,
but do you have to plug in the main ide power plug in.model number of adpter is rxd639.

did u do any performance test?
interested to see and compare to decide whether to get this or a pci sata card.
